ddr4 or ddr5

I am building a new pc for editing. in real world is it really time to move from ddr4 to 5?
depends on your budget. we are not yet to its potential like 12500mhz. 7k+ MHZ is here. so if you want to jump the wagon then sure. Intel ships with ddr5 before amd. but now amd is also on it while being cheaper than what ddr4 based platforms where costing.

Personally, you can go ahead.

I built a PC for video editing earlier this year and I went with DDR5 (6000 Mhz, not anything spectacular). The MOBO was a little more expensive for the DDR5 version but I believe that video editing (Premiere and after effects) caches a lot of things in RAM and a faster RAM will definitely increase your performance. Plus future proofing won't hurt.

Go for DDR5. Price difference is not much nowadays but if you are getting older system then ddr4 is still ok if rest of the components are average. you can find cheap used ddr4 as well
