Can the members suggest some great-enjoyable literary works in regional language(s)? For example Mushi Premchand in Hindi. I am only fluent Hindi besides my mother tongue. If the book is non-hindi, please suggest the ones that have English translated versions.

If you are interested in something Mahabharat, you can try Mahasamar book series by Narendra Kohli which is there in Hindi.
I have read the first book, and I found the writing really good. The reason I did not continue was that the book is sort of retelling of Mahabharat, so certain aspects of the stories were changed.
I wanted to read the original story first and will then get back to the series.

I really like this one.

It is the first of a triology, the second and third being Ek Gadha NEFA* mein and Ek Gadhe ki Vapsee

*NEFA is ithe old name of Arunanchal PRadesh and parts of Assam.

Ooh, Premchand is crazy good. Nearly everything he writes, but specifically :

1. Panch parmeshwar. It is a classic amongst classics, expected to be referenced in conversations.
2. Boodhi Kaki : this one hits hard, goose bump material.
3. Shatranj ke khiladi : another classic
4. Godaan : one of the better ones in long form

Thank you. Surely going to read those.

Noted. Anything other than Premchand and his stories?

On the road - Jack Kerouac

What’s remarkable is how completely the book defies the story everyone claims it tells. Has anyone actually read it at all?
