PS5 controllers stick drift

It's a d**k move by Sony. Maybe they intentionally use this kind of parts so that you will buy additional controllers.

Ps3 controllers are the best in terms of stick drift. I have one which is ages old but still works like a charm. No stick drift at all. The battery is however a goner after this long.

DS3>DS4>dualsense.
 
Got Xbox one x controller in Jan 2023 and redgear pro in April 2022. Xbox one developed stick drift and nothing I tried fixed it. Redgear one is still working fine. Ordered Cosmicbyte Stellaris that has Hall effect sensors. When I had Xbox One, had two controllers that were rock solid for good 2 years and I sold it off. This feels like planned obsolescence.
 
I had bought an xbox one controller in 2019 I think it had developed stick drift 1 month ago. I opened it up and cleaned the sticks with rubbing alcohol and it got fixed rn is running well

Most DS3s variants actually used hall effect sensors for the analog sticks! We have truly regressed.

Umm. Not really.

Yes for the first few years, DS3 actually used hall effect sensors. But then Sony moved to these normal carbon film sensors. But they were made by company called ALPS. Which made great sensors. I still try to replace using these sensors. But they are slightly expensive than normal ones.

Later they shifted to some unknown Chinese brands and the quality went downhill from there.
 
My Dualsense had to be replaced twice within the warranty period because of stick drift issue. Second time was just 10 days before warranty expired, thankfully not 10 days later. And this when I have a gaming PC as well and don't use the PS5 exclusively.

Now that warranty is over, I'm scared to use the PS5. If it develops the issue again, I'll have to spend money for this crappy controller because there are no 3rd party controllers either for PS5.

Ah, my bad.

That's an interesting thing to learn. Curious to know when they made the switch to the Chinese sensors. Was it around the time of the Super Slim?
