I'm now going to make it a yearly ritual, it was a great experience! Almost made up my mind to get it done from outside but f it we ball'd my way through it.
The temps are good, the fans don't go above 2300rpm at idle. Earlier they were going full tilt (6800 rpm) at idle.
Thanks to desiibond, rockyo27, and k_m_arya for thermal paste recs.

Used to do it annually for my gaming laptop as well and it is a must. However, it is but more convoluted to do it with my current Vivobook which contains a lot of shrouds and spreaders and is thus time consuming. But there is probably not any benefit either since the GPU and CPU temperatures hardly touch 80C with the 75W GPU and 90W combined TDP.

The biggest benefit I got was installing a copper heatspreader with thermal pad for my 990 Pro, the idle temperatures went down to 35C from 45C.

Many laptop owners use these portable devices very wrongly by placing them on beds. Such users rarely, if ever, clean the internal of the laptop. Reapplying thermal paste would be a miracle for the laptop.
Still, if done every two or even three years, would significantly help keep the temperature and the Fan RPM low.
