A lot of YouTube videos have flashy, misleading titles and thumbnails, such as “BREAKING NEWS” or “The president steps down,” to bait the user into watching the video, which has non-related content.

YouTube said Wednesday that it is now cracking down on such videos — especially if videos cover topics like breaking news or current events — starting in India. The company noted that it will also start enforcing stricter rules against clickbait titles and thumbnails in the coming months.

The enforcement will include YouTube removing such videos without issuing a strike against the creator of the channel at the beginning of this program.

Nice. Hopefully shitty Indian YT channels get warnings or lose monetization on such clickbait videos.

Starting from India is good. Not complaining but I'm pretty sure there are countries which produce more clickbait content.
Maybe they want to experiment and they know if something goes wrong here most people won't bother to raise their complaints.

The first thing that any content creator learns is to create click bait titles. This isn't new. Read any reputed news website and almost all of their titles will be clickbait. Something that can be conveyed with just a title, has a whole article written on it. Google themselves are to blame for it with their search engine algorithms.

Another reason why its good to start from India, has probably more influencers than Americas and Europe combined.
