Meta's Layoffs: Performance-Based Cuts or Just Bad Timing?

Meta's latest layoffs of 3,600 employees have raised eyebrows, with CEO Mark Zuckerberg branding them as “low performers.” This move follows a staggering 21,000 job cuts in the past two years, ostensibly to enhance performance management. However, many affected employees argue their solid performance records contradict this narrative. Allegations of bias against those who recently took parental leave also surfaced. While Meta's stock is soaring, the “low performer” label may haunt those laid off, challenging the company’s reputation amid ongoing changes in leadership and strategy.

What do you think about performance-based layoffs? Are they fair or just a way to shift blame?

Quick question.
Are you just adding new threads in the "Latest Technology News" section just for the sake of adding them or there is some other purpose behind it.
Seems a perfunctory task by you.
2-3 pages of "Latest Technology News" is filled by your new posts which doesn't seem to add much meaning here.
Oh damn didn't even notice this. Do posts in this section count towards the ThreadStorm Wars? Is that why the spam?

Edit: Nevermind, apparently OP is a news bot

Am in favor of Vol-TE, brings in topic for engagement and discussion, people need not dislike a bot.
Users can engage between each other on the topic posted by Vol-TE as they like...

So am I. Just one suggested tweak - include a custom title that this is a TE news bot so that people don't confuse it for a random spam bot.

The right way is to make you understand that the topic in discussion matters than the messenger.
I've no qualms in dealing with a bot or a robot, if it works for me.

OK so the topics are selected by me at random, and there is manual work involved. The bot (not really a bot) just automates the task of summarizing and posting at fixed intervals from that Vol-TE account. Right now it does it every 30 minutes. I will change it to 60 minutes as I am also not able to find 48 topics each day due to lack of time.

Currently I am working on the application to enhance it as I keep posting news. Next up is adding images (AI generated or real). Will try to give it multi account support and then eventually would need some volunteers to submit news to a portal.

I agree the topics need to be more balanced, but such is the tech landscape right now, dominated by AI. Nevertheless, its on the list of things to do, to pick topics from all domains, after I identify the domains.

And as others posted, how does it matter who is posting the news, its important that we know whats happening around. If members would be doing it then we would not need this. Plus there is a certain consistency that you would expect in frequency and formatting.

Still if its bothering you, feel free to unsubscribe here and you would stop seeing anything in this section -> https://techenclave.com/forums/vol-te’s-tech-digest.160/ignore

PS: We can have a separate subforum for Vol-TE posted news so that member posted news do not get inundated and people can ignore the news if they want.
Would appreciate if it is not part of the default feed on login or if there is an option to filter out Vol-TE’s Tech Digest from the feed. Right now 12 of the 60 recent topics are from the bot, which is a bit too much, content aside.
