Herald
If you own GTA V on PC you will now have access to a newer version of the game free of charge which will feature ray tracing support through shadows and reflections. More importantly, there's official NVIDIA DLSS 3 support, as well as FSR 1 and FSR 3 (no mention of specific versions though). The game will also take advantage of DirectStorage technology, as well as improvements for high resolution, higher aspect ratio, and higher frame rates.

The upgraded version will appear as a separate game, meaning that it will not be possible to play with other gamers on the previous release. However, Rockstar intends to fully support the older game and will continue to work on that version for gamers who cannot or will not upgrade for whatever reason.
The new features are as follows:
• Ray tracing features only available on PC such as ambient occlusion and global illumination - plus ray traced shadows and reflections first debuted on consoles.

• Support for AMD FSR1 and FSR3, and NVIDIA DLSS 3.

• Faster loading times using SSD and DirectStorage on supported devices and configurations.

• Enhanced support for higher resolutions, higher aspect ratios, and higher frame rates.

• DualSense® controller support, with adaptive triggers.

• Enhanced audio with support for Dolby Atmos and improved fidelity of speech, cinematics, and music.

• There are also going to be new vehicles added along with more wildlife all over San Andreas and also a new landing page for GTA Online.

Grand Theft Auto V Enhanced is Now Available on PC; First Comparisons Highlight Visual Improvements Introduced By Ray-traced Global Illumination

JRhhlpi.jpeg

Grand Theft Auto V Enhanced is now available on PC, introducing plenty of new features that are sure to breathe new life into the latest main entry in the series.

The new version of the game includes, as announced a few days back, new features such as new ray tracing settings like ray-traced global illumination and ambient occlusion, that push the game's visuals beyond those offered in the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S versions of the game, NVIDIA DLSS 3, AMD FSR 1 and 3 support, faster loading times with DirectStorage support and more. Now that the upgrade is out, we have also learned that all settings can go as high as Ultra and that the game features a Scene BVH Quality, thanks to a new screenshot provided by gabdeg on the ResetERA forums. Unfortunately, HDR support is nowhere to be found, which is a shame.

It's too early to say if the new ray tracing features included in the Grand Theft Auto V Enhanced PC release improve the game's visuals universally, but from the quick comparison put together by gabdeg, it's clear they do have a significant impact. Another comparison put together by another ResetERA forums member, Vic20, highlights how much ray-traced global illumination makes a difference. Performance also seems to be solid, according to the first few reports, so it definitely looks like Rockstar Games has done a great job improving their highly successful game.

Grand Theft Auto V Enhanced is now available for all PC users as a free upgrade, while the Legacy version will continue to be available to allow those with PC configurations that do not match those for the upgraded version of the game to continue playing normally. More information on the Enhanced release can be found here.

If pixel peep you might be able to tell the difference, but in most cases you can't, imo it's only the trees in the forest region that look a little better but other than that there is pretty much no visual difference.

Rockstar just proved that good art direction in a game will always beat any form of RT.

How to transfer your GTA 5 save file to GTA 5 Enhanced and accept Rockstar's Online Policies if needed

You may need to load up GTA Online even if you only want to transfer your story mode saves.

Next-gen game upgrades never seem to go as flawlessly as you'd hope, so I was not at all surprised to find some potholes to avoid in transferring your GTA 5 save file to GTA 5 Enhanced edition on PC.

I nearly hydroplaned trying to figure out how to agree to Rockstar's darn online policies, which sounds ridiculous—but this is GTA Online we're talking about. Why would anything be straightforward? I can at least help you avoid your own road rage by talking you through this poorly-explained requirement for GTA Enhanced.

Here's the quick rundown on what you need to know about transferring your GTA 5 save file from GTA 5 Legacy to Enhanced and how to get it done without stalling out.

What's the difference between Grand Theft Auto 5 Enhanced and Legacy?
3 years later, GTA 5’s Enhanced edition finally comes to PC, and it’s somehow 22GB smaller than GTA 5 Cool Original flavour

How to upload your GTA 5 save file in story mode

Choose the save progress you want to upload and transfer to GTA 5 Enhanced.

When in GTA 5 Enhanced, you'll just have the option to import the one save data you uploaded to your account.(Image credit: Rockstar)

  • Launch GTA 5 as normal and open story mode
  • Open the menu to the "game" tab and navigate to "upload save game"
  • ❗Accept Rockstar's online policies (details below) if needed
  • Choose the one (only one!) save file you want to upload
  • Open GTA 5 Enhanced and start story mode
  • Open the menu to the "game" tab and navigate to "download save game"
  • Accept the download of the save file attached to your account
Remember, Rockstar says that you can only go through the save file transfer process once and never again. You can reupload save games to your account in GTA 5 Legacy, overwriting the one you'd picked before multiple times. But you can only import a save file to GTA 5 Enhanced one time. You also can't transfer GTA 5 Enhanced progress back to the Legacy edition because, yeah, why would you want to?

Transferring a save file will not delete the save data from your GTA 5 installation, but it will overwrite any save data you may have made in GTA 5 Enhanced before importing. So do the save transfer process before you sink hours into the updated version of the game.

How to accept Rockstar's online policies

If you see this warning, don't leave your game. Open GTA Online instead.
To accept Rockstar's online policies, open your menu in GTA 5 Legacy and launch GTA Online instead of story mode. Why do you need to agree to online policies to transfer your singleplayer data? I don't know either.

When you get to the "Upload save game" portion of your GTA 5 menu you might get hit with a screen that says "You must accept the latest Rockstar Games Online Policies to upload a save game." This seems to happen if you've either never played or haven't played GTA Online in a long while. It just directs you to visit the Rockstar website which is totally unclear and unhelpful.

Ignore that direction entirely and stay in your game. Navigate to the "Online" portion of your menu and attempt to launch GTA Online. You'll get a notice here telling you to accept the latest privacy policy and code of conduct before entering GTAO. Tick the box and accept and then head back to story mode where you should now be able to upload a save game.

How to transfer your GTA Online character to GTA 5 Enhanced

3KuH8kc.jpeg

No need to juggle Legacy and Enhanced versions here, just load into GTA 5 Enhanced and migrate your Rockstar profile.
To import your GTA Online progress, start up GTA 5 Enhanced and enter Online mode. This is painless compared to the story mode upload and download process, fortunately.

GTA 5 Enhanced should immediately ask you before entering GTA Online if you want to migrate your profile from Enhanced to Legacy. Press Enter to accept migrating your characters and you'll be set to go.

Just remember that GTA 5 has separate instances for Legacy and Enhanced. So you can't play online with friends still on the Legacy version if you move over to Enhanced and you also won't keep the same progress between the two versions of the game, even in GTAO. So once you migrate your profile, commit to playing the new version.

I was surprised to see the optimization diff between both versions.
Legacy at 2K everything maxed out except motion blur - 60-70FPS
Enhanced everything maxed out RT and all - 120+fps.
Free upgrade too, so no complaints maybe the load time got faster too , Took me just 6 seconds to change sessions.

From what I have seen in comparisons on YouTube the enhanced edition is offering worse performance than the legacy one with RT enabled at the same settings what settings are you using and what are your system specs? Also are you keeping MSAA equal in both the cases?

I got r5 7600 32gb ddr5 and 3070ti, undervolted to use only 190w.
Not sure about MSAA but I simply turned all the setting to the max that was available. Could only spend 10 minutes testing it, So will try it again after I get home.
