OC & Modding Is this CPU cooler good enough?

Hello guys i hope you all doing very well today! I am here again asking for your opinion and suggestion about CPU cooler for AMD/AM4.

First of all i am using a 5600 and i use PBO2 and i get nice boost upto 4.7ghz but the cpu quickly gets hot in multicore test and cant sustain the clock speed. Yes ofcourse i am using the included amd wraith stealth cooler. So i am now in search for better cpu cooler with a budget of 2-4k rs.

I have came across this coolermaster hyper 212 black from amazon and watched some review. Some saying it is good some saying it isnt worth it. What do you guys think?

yeah should help. Deepcool equivalents might be cheaper with similar performance.
I have used GAMMAXX 400 V2 and AG620 without issues.
For some reason amazon no longer lists them, but should be available in other stores. 400 v2 used to be around 1500 and AG620 is low 3000s now.

You can look for updated version of single tower cooler ( i bought 400 v2 in 2020 ) and compare. I don't know whats latest.
I used it with 3300x and it helped very nicely vs crappy cooler that it came with.

AG620 might be overkill for 5600x, but its one of better aircoolers - close to top air coolers with decent price.

No don't go with Coolermaster even now.
Go for this cooler which has 6 years of warranty.
ARCTIC Freezer 36 ARGB 120mm Single Tower CPU Air Cooler (Black) @4k
But your present 5600 does not need more than a single 120mm fan cooler.
So go with this cooler which has 1 year warranty.
Deepcool Gammaxx AG400 WH ARGB 120mm CPU Air Cooler @2.1k
If you intend to upgrade to AM5 7800X3D in near future then Arctic Freezer is a must.

The Freezer 36 is a good choice. Bare minimum would be the AG400. With either, you'll see a great improvement!

ARCTIC Freezer 36 looks nice. Should I go for the non RGB one? At 3k rs, is it the same? Btw I don't use RGB even keyboard lights are off

Oh it's 200rpm less, 1800max while RGB one is 2000 max

Go with non RGB one but RGB one has its entire block in black colour where as non RGB cooler block is in steel color while fans are black color.

Would the freezer 36 be good for 7600x or 7700 as well?

I was using hyper 212 with my 1600 for around 7 yrs, now it has almost rusted, currently using ag620 for 7800x3d. For 5600 you have some pretty good recommendations above both deepcool and arctic freezer are good, you might also want to look at classifieds section, I believe there was some post for noctua cooler as part of build they were selling.

I think i will go with rgb one and just unplug the rgb cable to disable rgb?
Any reason to go for Freezer 36, which is a single tower cooler, if AG620 is at same price ? around 3k-3.4k. It should be approx 60-70%% of the price atleast imo.
Is ag620 better in thermal performance? It doesn't look good bro also the heatpipe endings are showing

Check reviews, should be. It has two towers vs 1 in the other one. Looks fine to me, its just a cooler.

That said, i am not sure, but it might be overkill for 5600x.
Ideally single tower cooler should have been a lot cheaper and we wouldn't be comparing. Like AG400 which is less than 2k.

Deepcool has multiple options, there was one with larger heat sink, probably one that has 1 heatsink and 2 fans and AG620 which has 2 of both.
For the money, it usually was very good.

----------

Just from google search - AG620 should be close to AK620.
But you can look at other options and indian prices. American prices might be different.
I am guessing that even AG400 should be enough and that one probably should be comparable with freezer36 - but confirm from reviews.

Larger coolers will be more useful when there is more heat from cpu. So if you upgrade, then could be useful.

It's okay bro I might use it for higher tdp CPUs in future. So I'm trying to buy the best possible cooler for the money, also good aesthetic without RGB is preferred. But I'm willing to sacrifice looks of the product if the performance is good. I will see some reviews to see if it's any better. I am also eyeing the cheap deepcool aio liquid cooler at 5k . Wonder how that will compare, not many videos are there

Don't know about cheap liquid coolers, but good ones will cool better.
But - they potentially have a shorter lifespan and there is a risk of liquid spilling and causing damage.
Air coolers do a good enough job that, to me, it does not seem to be worth the trouble.

If you buy a very hot cpu, like say intel 14900 and similar, then maybe liquid cooler would be esp needed. Dunno

No, 240 AIOs, especially around the 5K range, make zero sense. You take on the inherent risks associated with AIOs - such as a shorter shelf life, pump failure, leaks, etc. Air coolers in that price range are the sensible option. For the most part, they will perform better than a 240 and will last you forever. Only 360 and above will make sense if looking at an AIO, especially when paired with a hot chip.

That was also i was thinking, liquid leaking on components. Also thanks man i will stick to air cooler then.. ryzen 5600 can be very power hungry when using pbo i hit over 100 watts, way above the capacity of the stock amd wraith stealth cooler. Now im running at -30 curve optimizer, 1x multiplier, 4.1ghz locked. It sustains all core 4.1ghz at 50-60 watts now just for the stock cooler to stay silent and cool. Not much performance penalty. But 4.7ghz gave a 2000+ r23 multicore boost although it didn't sustained on the longer test heat accumulated.. so technically im not even using the cpu's full potential.

Thanks bro, i will stick to air cooler for now. Also i don't have bigger budget at this moment.

I thought with liquid i could add the radiator at the top and fan as an exhaust, so it also work as additional case fan. But i didn't knew about the failure rates of air cooler..

My pc specs are,
R5 5600 non x, zotac 3060 12gb, 32gb gskill aegis 3200mhz ram, 1tb wd black sn770 on a cheapest Msi b550m-a pro. I bought this at 2024 December amazon sale.

Coming from a gaming laptop and igpu pc, the ryzen 5600 heats up pretty quicky when on load at the stock settings. Included wraith stealth is not good enough for this. My previous wraith stealth with my old 2200g, the heatsink was bigger/taller. But this one is tiny.

Here is a photo of my case,

Only thing thats bother me with current pc is noise. I have installed cheap antesports fan on my deepcool matrex 40 case, which costed me 1250rs for a pack of 3 pwm fans with 70cfm pressure. At the front i synced with vrm mosfet, and i set fan curve starting at 30°c to 55°c to max fan speed. My case current config is 1 rare fan, and 3 front panel fan for pulling air from outside.

So apart from cable management would you suggest me to make any change on the case too?

The Arctic Freezer 36 is a good choice for most CPUs with up to 200W TDP. It works well for mid-range to high-end processors. If you're overclocking, you might want a more powerful cooler.

Those wires might be obstructing airflow coming from the intake fans so do some cable management by using zip ties.
And clean your cabinet interior and all fan blades every 3 months and you are good to go.
I think so there are dust filters in front & below the PSU. Clean them as well.
