So the 5080 FE came.. I have a few things to ask/share:
1) The temp sensor on mine seems to be broken for some reason.. it always shows 28 - 33 C (both afterburner and task manager) even under gaming load.. is anyone else with the FE facing the same issue? This is on a fresh new windows install and drivers.. so idk whats happening.
2) Out of the box it had no port protector plugs.. I'm talking about the little plastic plugs which come inserted into the HDMI ports etc and the main PCIe connector on GPU's usually.. I watached a few unboxing videos and it was the same on those.. but seriously seems like a cheaping out move on such a expensive card.
3) Referred to a few reddit articles and OC'ed to +400 Core and +2000 memory.. Reddit articles say this brings the 5080 to within 5% of the 4090.. so i'm quite happy that my card is able to hit these clocks in line with people are experiencing.. CC's stay around 3200-3250mhz mark during games. So far seems stable in games like LOU2 howeverr i need to do a little more testing.
4) One thing i immediately noticed going from the 7900xtx to 5080 is that raw performance is quite similar.. maybe a difference of 10 frames but DLSS is so so much better in LOU2 compared to FSR on the 7900xtx.
5) Feel like no matter how i place the cable it looks ugly.. idk why they went with this design.. i also think.. since most cases have airflow from the front it might losen the connector with the airflow overtime? idk just a thought.
6) Does anyone know if there is a way to turn off the LED's on this card?
