International Roaming | Quick Help with Airtel/Jio & Data Options?

Guys, I’m currently using Airtel postpaid and Jio prepaid, and I’ll be travelling abroad(Africa Continent) for about 15 days.

Last time I went out, I was on Airtel prepaid and just activated international roaming without taking any plan, worked fine since I only needed to receive OTPs.

Now with Airtel postpaid, I’m not sure if I have to take an international roaming plan just to receive OTPs. I don’t need to use data or make calls, just need to be able to get a few SMSes.

Also, I’m okay not using Jio at all during the trip if there are any charges involved.

And one more thing, are there any good eSIM data providers you’d recommend for basic data access while I’m abroad? Would love to hear some suggestions.

Thanks in advance!

I use Google Fi and Saily. Both can be paused when not in use without the fear of losing your number.
Google Fi is not an option unless you're travelling to US first. It must be activated in mainland and then can be used all over the world, without any roaming charges.
Saily can be activated in India. They're eSim based data provider, wayyy cheaper than Fi but won't let you make calls and/pr SMS. Strictly data only.
I can refer you to both which would knock off couple of bucks on your first month.

I am travelling to Africa continent, I should have mentioned in the post, which I did now.
See, I will surely need Airtel for getting OTPs.

Airtel roaming service is needed for any activity outside of Indian Airtel network and roaming plans are needed for bundle usage. Last time I travelled (not to Africa), I didn't activate any plans in postpaid and I got SMS and incoming calls. SMS was free but incoming calls were chargeable, I expect same to be the case.
At that time Jio was my primary number for personal calls and it disappointed me big time, same with Matrix. I found that Airtel IR packs were most competitively priced among reliable providers.
