I don't think 8600 GT is available in AGP variant. ~_~. So I say go for 7900 GS AGP for about 9k. It's a good card, and should last you for a good while. If you absolutely need DX10 support, then you're going to have to get a new CPU and Mobo, sadly.

Chieftec is excellent, although isn't it a bit expensive? Yeah, I'd take Chieftec any day. Best value for money would have to be Zebronics definitely. Since you're getting a CM PSU, you may want to pair that up with Cooler Master Elite for 3k or Cooler Master Ammo for about 4-4.5k.:D Not 100%...

x1950 Pro is a rockin' card, you can get a HIS Radeon x1950 Pro for about 150 off Newegg after rebate. I believe it's faster than 7900 GS, although I'm not 100% sure about this.

Don't buy a 6 series card now. Get 8500 GT or 7900 GS. 7900 GS goes for about 129$ after rebate on Newegg, so the extra 50$ is well worth the performance. If you don't wanna spend the extra 50 bucks, stick with the 8500 GT. But remember that 8500 GT has DX10 support while 7900 GS does not.
