All depends on the quality of the recording. "Umrao Jaan" LP was as dynamic as i have heard anything while the "Rockstar" LP was as dud as the ACD version; same turntable and amp. A turntable or a DAC alone cannot convert your music into magical.

1) It is said that the amps output impedance should be no more than 1/8th of the headphone's impedance. So for a 32ohm hp you'll need an amp with output impedance <=32/8 ohms However there is an exception where orthodynamic headphones are much less/not at all affected by the high output...

HE400 does have bass in good amount. But apart from bass everything else is really below average. I too listen to trance and with similar thoughts had bought the HE400. The bass was good but treble was too piercing and the mids sucked big time.
