0-20k Experiment with 6500xt as egpu

Nice, where did you get that 120watt pico psu ? Is that the one that ETA prime channel has used in some of his projects. I am planning to order some oculink components from china and will keep you posted. Keep hacking, experimenting, failing and learning !!

0-20k Experiment with 6500xt as egpu

No its not, you'll have to source it from outside. Only oculink boards are available in India : https://www.amazon.in/dp/B0BZZ2MXT7 but for oculink you will need to add the oculink port to your laptop and for that you will need an empty m.2 port, so its not as accessible as TB.

0-20k Experiment with 6500xt as egpu

Well if you have a Thunderbolt port in your laptop then the cheapest way would be to order a TB board like TH3P4G3 or adt ut3g, attach your gpu and PSU to it and connect it to your laptop. There are many such setups on https://new.reddit.com/r/eGPU/

    15-20K Spoiled by Poco F1 - looking for a 5G alternative

Have not been able to find a good replacement yet. There are a few options suggested that do cover 1 of the 3 features I wanted such as S23 is compact and both S23 and Poco F6 will have custom rom in the future but not now. So sticking with F1 running A14 as of now.

    Query regarding PC STUDIO

Its good, i have ordered parts from them and my exp has been good. Just curious why not AM5 platform so that you can use SAM with AMD gpu but also do drop in cpu upgrades in the future ?

90K+ Upgrade old pc or build a new rig

In case of 4080 super then, I think you will have to upgrade your PSU for sure. It alone can pull 320W and you have a good cpu that can you can overclock (I would def do instead otherwise what is the point of buying K-series CPU) so thats north of 120W and if you take in account of transient...

90K+ Upgrade old pc or build a new rig

1440 or 4k? Lots of difference between them. For 1440p, just put in a 12 (preferably 16 gb vram) card and you'll be fine. I am using RX6800 with old i5 6600K with a 600PSU and I am getting same FPS in AAA as if I were using a modern CPU like 7800x3D : here is my post on this...

    Graphic Cards EGPU solution

Actually, oculink can provide 64 gbps bandwidth which is double than that of TB3/4. (oculink boardneeds to PCIE 4.0 for that) I am also attracted to eGPU because I want the discrete GPU to be separate for reduced noise, heat and weight. TB3/4 being proprietary requiring special chip but oculink...

    Graphic Cards EGPU solution

I have setup exp GDC beast with the mPCIE connector a few years ago. Worked well but the backplate of the laptop is always open. Now we have graceful options where we can connect the eGPU to the Laptop or MiniPC through TB4/Oculink port without removing the backplate. I am currently trying to...

Which dumbbells should I buy ?

I have both ends of the spectrum. The concrete ones I built during pandemic. Since the density is lower than metal so by the time I reached 12 kgs per dumbell, it was quite wide. Weather proof but cant drop them. And I have the Nuobells (by Cockatoo) 20 kg pair as well. Costed me 24k total...

0-20k Will GPU upgrade help in Old desktop

1080? I think it was a typo by someone. I just had a 1080 Ti - was just showing its age with a couple of UE5 titles Alan wake 2 and Hellblade 2. Got a good deaal with Rx 6800 locally - nearly 2x perf with same power usage. But love the 1080Ti, I think I'm gonna keep it - may use it in a egpu...

0-20k Will GPU upgrade help in Old desktop

1080 Ti represent! I had two Arctic P12 slims feeding her fresh air in my sff case. Temps below 75C at full load. Story based AAA titles. 1440p. Anywhere between 60-120 fps I'm happy. The 11 gb vram in the 1080 Ti served me well at that resolution. Barring modern UE5 titles like Senua...

0-20k Will GPU upgrade help in Old desktop

Yeah, as of now nothing in the background when I am gaming. I'll keep an eye out for 1% lows and hope Hardware Unboxed are correct when they say AMD gpus when paired with older CPUs actually give better 1% lows as they dont offload scheduling to CPU like nvidia GPU does.

0-20k Will GPU upgrade help in Old desktop

Noted and ya true! I have not been facing any issue in getting the GPU usage to >98% in the benchmarks and games I have tried so far. Yes, as of now didnt see any stutters as of now but will keep this in mind. I have read about AMD GPUs being more forgiving to older CPUs as they dont offload...

0-20k Will GPU upgrade help in Old desktop

Thanks to all to help me decide what should I upgrade. Got a local deal of 25k for a 2 year old RX 6800 reference, so took it. I then thought of analysing how much performance I would be losing by pairing this strong card with an ancient quad core i5 6600K. I used this RX 6800 benchmark in...

    15-20K Spoiled by Poco F1 - looking for a 5G alternative

Poco F1 is the Aswathama !! Just a few disagreements from a couple of points: Getting the battery have been very easy for the F1 and the replacement even easier as the backplate is not glued. I have replace the battery around 4 times earlier (once per year or 2 years and two devices) from...
