I also see SP 2666 listings for about 1500, so I'll cut my budget off at 1200. Having more speed is pointless though, as I'll just be using it to expand an old 7th gen desktop.
Crystaldiskmark benchmarks may not be accurate through a USB enclosure either, you are limited by the speed of your USB controller and not the drive itself.
