Ferrite core rings work to reduce interference on cables?

Not facing any issues, just thought if it helps "clean" the power incoming to the PC, monitor etc. then I might try it. But it seems it doesn't work that way - just reduces the external magnetic field / interference - so not really any kind of "protection" for appliances - so dropped the idea...

Windows Bitlocker + Win11 Pro 24H2 edition = Secure Boot is mandatory???

I respectfully beg to differ. Yes, it perhaps reduces the level of security but not defeats it. If your laptop is lost/stolen your data is still encrypted.

    The "Everyday" show-off thread !

This is the product page -> https://in.msi.com/Monitor/MAG-321UP-QD-OLED You need to call/email gtek.in contact details - they're not online store. I couldn't find the product listed on other online places like amazon, (yet) - you can also try contacting via MSI "where to buy" page...

Windows Bitlocker + Win11 Pro 24H2 edition = Secure Boot is mandatory???

Yep for office work. Just for reference: Seems like disabling the TPM PCR 4 (platform config register for boot manager) option in group policy editor resolved this issue - fingers crossed. Located in group policy editor -> computer config -> admin templates -> windows components -> bitlocker...

Windows Bitlocker + Win11 Pro 24H2 edition = Secure Boot is mandatory???

Yeah it's a middle-ground option... my preferred choice was a cheaper ASUS PRIME PRO variant wasn't available - and the latest X870E variant with fancy stuff like WiFi 7 (320mhz channel width and MLO etc) was even more expensive and also risky for linux compatibility (wifi definitely doesn't...

Windows Bitlocker + Win11 Pro 24H2 edition = Secure Boot is mandatory???

Please post link to source. The wording is misleading... Yes, secure boot feature is mandatory but NOT mandatory to enable it for Bitlocker to work.

    The "Everyday" show-off thread !

Oh yeah forgot about the PSU... yes it is kind of segregated from the rest of the parts in my case. My current/old CM694 seems to not let the innards get too bad - was surprised to see it pretty clean when I got it serviced after a gap of a year...

Windows Bitlocker + Win11 Pro 24H2 edition = Secure Boot is mandatory???

I recently did a fresh install on my new rig with its ASUS ProArt X670E Creator Wifi board and for the life of me I'm unable to get Bitlocker to not keep booting into recovery mode everytime when I disable secure boot in the UEFI settings. My older rig with its ASUS PRIME TRX40 Pro-S and...

    The "Everyday" show-off thread !

I guess I can look forward to the same fate with my new rig with its Lian Li o11 dynamic rgb case and 10 fans :pespecially the rear isn't a fine mesh has larger holes just inviting dust build up. At least the front and side glass makes it easy to see when it gets bad so I can get it cleaned.

    Linux Gnome GUI Shutdown Prompt

Instead of gnome-session-quit have you tried something like: dbus-send --system --print-reply --dest=org.freedesktop.login1 /org/freedesktop/login1 org.freedesktop.login1.Manager.PowerOff boolean:true So you can go back to using a systemd service file instead of looping in a script? (assuming...

Just a heads-up that MSI seems to have some models now available in India :) if their website is to be believed. See https://in.msi.com/Monitors/Products#?tag=MAG-Series - there are many models but I guess just 4 are OLEDs. Flagships like the 32 inch flat 240hz (for about ₹ 1 lakh) and 34 inch...
