Slower both in sc and mc. I have a 9700k and a 5600x. 5600x beats the 9700k both in benchmarks and in general usage. It is way more snappy.

If you are using a reasonably new version of Ubuntu (say 18.04) or any other debian/mint etc strains, VMware emulation drivers are inbuilt into the Linux kernel.

What is your hypervisor? Linux VMs on Windows - why don't use some emulation drivers with VMware? Unless you absolutely must passthru for some particular app, it isn't required.

Why headache? NVIDIA has enabled VM passthrough now. Are you on latest drivers? There is no need to hide the VM anymore. AMD has the soft restart issue even on RDNA2 - when the VM is restarted or shut down, the GPU hangs.

I have a 3090 and max I see are 380-390W transients. Those are perfectly fine - any decent quality psu can handle the same. I haven't seen my 5950x go anywhere near 160w. Still - if you include 400+160, you are still hitting 560. Add another 100 and you should be absolutely fine with a platinum...

750 is more than sufficient in that case. 350w for GPU, at max 150w for cpu. Optimum Tech ran a 3080 + liquid cooled overclocked 10900k on an sf600 and it ran perfectly fine. Rest is insignificant!

That PSU has a horribly noisy fan. CM silently fixed it but didn't launch the fixed version in India. I ended up getting an sf600 platinum exactly for this reason. Else the CM psu would have been better.

Nope - 9th gen i7 is still 8 cores while 10th/11th gen i5 is 6 cores (12 threads). 9th gen i9 = 10th gen i7. They are pretty much identical CPUs. 11th gen is an entirely different architecture.
