    Need high-end Android phone

29K is the MOP. I would guess that the actual street price would be around 27 - 27.5k.

    Need high-end Android phone

Interestingly the androidos.in article (as well as several others sites) are reporting an official press release launching the HTC Desire in India at a MOP of R. 28,990/- Weirdly, I can't find anything like this on the HTC India site or the Tata Docomo site (who have supposedly partnered with...

    Need high-end Android phone

Went to the other dealer near my house today. According to him, there is no news of the Desire, and there will be no news till the 18th. According to him HTC is changing its national distributor, and right now they are in the midst of switching from one company to another, which shall only...

    Need high-end Android phone

Out of the two authorized dealers near my house, one was shut today on account of independence day, and the other did not have any clue about the desire and said it's not been launched yet. I asked him to call me once it was released, but he declined. I will go to the other one tomorrow or day...

    Need high-end Android phone

^ I seriously doubt (this is just my guess) the price of the officially launched model is going to be very much less than that (if not more). So if 27.7k seems excessive to you, do go for some other phone.

    Need high-end Android phone

No news so far. Basically that the shipment is en route to India, and that before the actual retail pieces hit the market, their website will be updated. Let's wait and see. I will probably stop by the HTC authorized retailer on the weekend to see if they have any news.

    Htc hd2

Well it's not even been confirmed yet. Moreover, even the rumours that are out there are talking about a October release. Then when will it comes to India (officially) is another question. There will always be a better phone out there, and always a better model coming out in a few months. :)...

^ Go to HTC India website - they have contact details for authorized retailers. I have personally also seen other retailers also selling the phone. In South Delhi, it's available in Green Park for sure.

    Best Blackberry Phone?

I don't think there is much controversy over this. The BB 9700 is their top of the line phone right now. Yes, the 9800 slider has also been revealed, but it's anyone's guess as to when it will appear in the Indian market. As pointed out the 9700 costs about 26k and is available in black and...

^ according to various reviews the Dell Streak does fit into the average pocket. Anyway youtube it and decide for yourself. It's not yet available in the U.S. either, but is on the verge of it.

    Need high-end Android phone

^ I know :) If the Desire isn't overpriced (i.e. over 30k) I am definitely going for it over the Galaxy S. Else I am importing a Dell Streak from the US. There are two HTC authorized dealers within 2km of my place, so I think I will be paying them a visit in a couple of days.

    Need high-end Android phone

^ This time we may be close. I have got a report from HTC Asia that a shipment of Desires has been sent to India and should be reaching here in a couple of days (very very likely before the end of this week). But I am not sure of what time it takes from there to actually reach the retail...

    Need high-end Android phone

Budget allows me to get Galaxy S - but I really really don't like the build quality of the phone, and also don't like TouchWiz.

    Need high-end Android phone

^ who's talking about nexus? We're talking about the HTC Desire (and the Dell Streak). And if you read the thread, I think I have made it pretty apparent that I really dislike the build quality of the Galaxy S. That and TouchWiz. Everything else is great about the phone (or at least fixable...

    Need high-end Android phone

Just thought I'd post an update. I've been in touch with HTC Asia and they said that the delay is because of short supply and they have only been giving target dates, but it all really depends on when the suppliers provide them with the shipment. Also, more than likely these pieces will have...

Samsung Galaxy S. User experience, The good,The bad and The ugly! (6.5MB pic warning)

Re: Samsung Galaxy S. User experience, The good,The bad and The ugly! (6.5MB pic warn ^ agreed. The screen and hardware may speak of a 27k phone, but the plastic case speaks of a 5-7k phone.
