You meant ipod touch 8g? fuze can drive M2 easily. You can reflash fuze with original firmware anytime,so in essence, rockboxing doesn't void warranty.

Santhosh, is it possible to match volume level of IEMs using your spl meter, or that too will not be accurate? Just curious. :) And yes, covering both amped as well as unamped is better

^ Single flange tips are pretty good. Actually M6 are the most comfortable IEMs I own, of course to my ears. YMMV. Perhaps you didn't get a proper seal with triple flanges, otherwise these have got lot's of bass. Bass is very fit dependent, so try to use different tips.

One of the amps you could consider is mini 3. That's a neutral, capable amp and rated highly by Clieos and |joker| on head-fi. I myself want to get that in future. :)

There's actually almost no comparision. I loved Hippo VB's bass. When it comes to bass, I prefer VB to anything I have heard, it does sub bass really well. RE1 is very good in bass quality does go low but doesn't have the VB's quantity. RE1 to be good at bass, needs an amp and it's nowhere near...

No use amping hippo vb. Get an IEM with a decent soundstage. If needed, you could buy a player later.

Thanks blr_p, that's good test. I think noise induced hearing loss is about noise levels( above 85db), so IEMs blocking noise would only allow you to listen at lower volumes, so I think they are safer. I don't think volume should be lowered. Any audiologist here? :P

It seems most of you do listen at sensible volumes. I am the only idiot. :P @esantosh Where did you get SPL meter from? Actually I hear speakers at 70db. And that looks good enough volume and with IEMs 85db looks low. I hope I am measuring correctly.
