21-30k Upgrading hardware or buying new

Don't upgrade the RAM as you won't be able to use it in any other machine, as the next computer you buy will probably use DDR4. If you buy an SSD, then your current machine will become a lot snappier, with programs and the OS loading much faster, but all compute related tasks- i.e. after...

    Storage Solutions Home Server

I've been curious about it, but I haven't tried to use it yet. I believe that most Linux programs work on it, do Windows programs work too? Is there something like WINE?

    Storage Solutions Home Server

I used the Nextcloud client on my desktop and phone. It worked fine for a couple of days, and then went downhill from there. It began using 100% CPU while syncing and some files couldn't be deleted. I've been using Seafile for a couple of months now, and it's good as Google Drive/Dropbox/One...

    Storage Solutions Home Server

I imported all my contacts and calendars from Google, and am using Nextcloud instead of a Google account on my phone. It has file sync as well, but the performance was terrible on my desktop, so I used Seafile for syncing my files, and for auto-uploading my photos. The Pi doesn't need any...

    Storage Solutions Home Server

I've been using my Raspberry Pi 3 as my HTPC for a year or two now, and it can play content on my TV, as well as stream music to another device without any problems. I've been using the Pi for all my torrents as well. I recently installed Nextcloud on it to sync my contacts and calendar. For...

    Ethernet printer to Wifi printer?

As long as the Pi connects from the room you want your printer, you can use it via wifi from anywhere. Connect the printer via USB to the Pi, and share it from there. Install a CUP's server, and get the Android CUPS printer app, and you can print via any device.

Storage Solutions Suggest portable hard drive storage

I'd suggest not buying a drive with encryption. I had a WD 3.5 mm external drive. The drive developed quite a few bad sectors, and wouldn't work in the USB case. I could see all the data, but couldn't access it. The operation would take forever, and result in an error. This was about 2-3 years...

    41-50k Linux Supported Laptop

I was reading the Amazon reviews and a guy was running ubuntu 16 on it and complained about the WiFi and not the graphics. Try and avoid realtek WiFi cards, but in the case of this laptop I think the problem can be solved by manually choosing the antenna. Fyi, my laptop has a realtek card too...

    41-50k Linux Supported Laptop

I had an issue with dual graphics initially. Amd&amd. This was when Linux was still on kernel 3.12 or 3.13. Since 3.16, I've had no issues. I was experimenting with Ubuntu and fedora back then and had to turn off the discrete graphics to get the system to work. But since Debian 8- kernel...

    41-50k Linux Supported Laptop

I think the only things you need to worry about are the wifi and bluetooth modules. Almost everything else is pretty standard and should be supported by most distributions. My Lenovo g50-45 has been running Debian for about a year, and it hasn't given me any problems at all.

    15-20K All round vfm phone - 18k

If you can wait a few months for the Mi 6 to release, then the Mi 5 which is 23,000 now should get a big price cut, and if it does it'll be a compelling buy. I'm hoping that it gets priced the same as the Mi 4 is now, and if it does I'll be buying it.

Microwave Oven or with convection or OTG? Really confused

I've been using a 28l Morphy Richards OTG for baking since the last 10 years and a regular Bajaj oven for about 20 years before that. The 28L oven is big enough to bake (at one time) 1) a 2 kilo cake on the middle rack. 2) 2 large batches of brownies, on the middle and bottom racks, as long as...

Airtel 4G to Jio Porting questions and Jio hotspot. Please Advise.

I'm in Pune, and I get speeds of between 1-10 mbps. Usually around 2-4 mbps. I'm using a JioFi router, and I make calls through it using the Jio4GVoice app. Everything's not perfect, some times it slows down, some times a few sites refuse to load, not all calls go through, and I do get an...

Android Jio voice calls not working on Lenovo Vibe K5 plus

I think your phone supports VOLTE, so you just need to enable that. I don't think you need the Jio4G app, but if you're using the app to call, then make sure VOLTE is disabled. Also, make sure that the SIM slot your Jio SIM is in supports HD calling.
