Out of curiosity, i asked Samsung CC if flashing official FW with odin would void warranty and the reply is YES. The reason is Odin is not a software developed by samsung and it hard resets the phone and then reflashes the FW unlike Kies which does it directly. Following this reply i asked him...

But what in case if the firmware is to be re flashed ?. I always prefer flashing a rom from my local hdd and i have been doing this since i got my tab 2. Is there any safe way of offline flashing ?. I hope kites will do it but dont think its easy as odin.

Bro, root is required for some full version apps to work and it is not that it is needed only for custom roms. Samsung could have at the most decided to deny warranty for installing custom rom ignoring root rom flash.

Anyway i am not going to root mine even in that case. But next time i will be cautious before opting for a Samsung phone.

Omg if this situation continues then samsung will start making exynos phones which is a treat for app developers who sell apps through Google play

When i asked customer care about warranty for rooted phone he just said that a rooted phone is disqualified to be a Samsung product and it is not material whether rooting is responsible for the issue or not. This is unacceptable. If there is a display or a touchscreen or camera or sound issue...

The only thing with online shopping is sometimes they send you the wrong item and you will have to run from pillar to post as in the case of shopclues where we received a different case for my s3. But that was not with amazon

Imo pre installed apps are full version only with basic features so the question of limited version or pro version will not arise with pre installed apps. I am talking about 3rd party apps or the apps which dont come pre installed.

If all the apps work properly without root i dont require it at all. Is there anyway to do it ? There are some apps which require root even genuine ones i suppose..
