India TV does it again !!!

There was actually a video game back in the late 90s called crop circles - you are an alien who has to suck up cows into your flying saucer (cows are the fuel source).

64bit is ready for mainstream, says Microsoft

They've added a large number of registers for one. That is a big improvement, but it mostly makes the lives of compiler writers / assembly coders easier. If you have a point other than "there must be something", let me know. It will be fun to know what people think 64 bits really mean.

64bit is ready for mainstream, says Microsoft

And why would it? What does 64 bit have to do with render times? Unless you claim that 64 bit integers are a common calculation, there is no reason why there would be any speed improvement. Of course it is not as simple as that, but the other improvements in the instruction set are not that...

64bit is ready for mainstream, says Microsoft

We'll leave out where I work since I'm not really showing any inside knowledge off here. My point was only that Dell does not currently support 64 bit Vista at all (in the consumer segment anyway, they'll gladly sell you a 64 bit Server 2k8). They wouldn't be able to shift to 64 bit only in a...

Laptops Help removing bloatware from Sony Vaio

You have Vista business? That means you can create a backup of the entire disk before doing anything. That way, if things go bad, you can restore the backup (as long as you have access to a Vista install CD)

64bit is ready for mainstream, says Microsoft

^^Won't happen because OEMs like Dell refuse to support 64 bit.

How many of you have a genuine copy of Vista?

HP laptop eh? If you have access to a Vista DVD, try reformatting and installing SP1. Make sure it is a clean image. It turns out that some of the problem with Vista is that the utilities bundled by OEMs can cause problems.

    final year project idea

I'll give you an idea. Windows Vista and 2008 have a filtering API and a firewall API (which itself is built on the filtering API). Implement a filter on Windows which can accept pf/iptables rules (in short port iptables or pf to Windows using the APIs). PF is packet filter (BSD) and iptables...
