Alexa Echo Dot (3rd Gen) - Use as alarm clock with loud sound.

You can easily set up "custom alarms" - meaning tell alexa to either "remind me at XXX time to do YYY" it will speak to you remind you twice. Or you can set actually alarms (you can choose different alarm tunes but its common for all) by saying "alexa wake me up at XXX time" but it just rings...

Storage Solutions Any good deals on NVMe external USB enclosures?

Mainly to use with the ventoy.net tool (for superfast OS installs) - need to plug in and out between my desktop and laptop - both of which have USB4/thunderbolt - though not sure of what kind of compatibility to expect between the three. I have a gen5 ssd in the mobo (about 11-12 GBps...

Storage Solutions Any good deals on NVMe external USB enclosures?

Yep was looking at https://amzn.in/d/c68hzkl which is 10k - I can wait. It needs to work as a ventoy.net boot drive on the USB-C port(s) (the USB4/thunderbolt one) on my AMD AM5 X670E mobo (Asus) with an SSD like a Samsung 970 Evo Plus 2TB which I have. Hopefully get the full 3 GBps transfer...

    Linux Gnome GUI Shutdown Prompt

Sure, you're welcome - this also helps me learn this stuff haha. For some reason I couldn't find the actual GNOME wiki or link where the actual docs for this DBUS API, just when I searched I got some random posts (like on stackexchange) that pointed to similar solutions. Remember, for...

    Monitors OLED Monitors

I wish India also gets some good deals if not BF then some year-end and/or diwali next year. So were the slow motion (high fps) video clips that I posted not showing the flicker properly on my oled monitor?

    Monitors OLED Monitors

I guess it seems okay to me... what about you? The flicker behind the monitor is the fan and light. It was 8x so I guess around 200 fps - does it specifically need to be 240 fps videos??? See: and

Ferrite core rings work to reduce interference on cables?

Not facing any issues, just thought if it helps "clean" the power incoming to the PC, monitor etc. then I might try it. But it seems it doesn't work that way - just reduces the external magnetic field / interference - so not really any kind of "protection" for appliances - so dropped the idea...

Windows Bitlocker + Win11 Pro 24H2 edition = Secure Boot is mandatory???

I respectfully beg to differ. Yes, it perhaps reduces the level of security but not defeats it. If your laptop is lost/stolen your data is still encrypted.
