WP Nokia Lumia 920 - Discussion thread

I use it often, works fine for me. Since it works fine with your iPad it's most probably not an issue at the phone end. It could have been a one-off issue with the network failing to return DNS server info etc or something, so give it another shot.

Android Samsung Galaxy S4 - Discussion Thread

The hardware has caught up to a point of overkill. From now, in the short term it is definitely software that needs to improve dramatically. The iOS "appify" model is totally bogus and has dumbed down computing to a mind-numbing level. Tim Cook boasts that the average iPhone user needs 100 apps...

Android Samsung Galaxy S4 - Discussion Thread

Judging by what they have done with S4, they can push a 5.8 inch screen into a chassis with Note II's size and weight. By the way, the gamepad accessory says "up to 6.3 inches", a very specific number, that should be a hint to where Samsung's line-up is going. A 6.3 inch Note III would be only...

Android Samsung Galaxy S4 - Discussion Thread

All of you calling out for more exotic materials, think about what you would give up. The phone would be much heavier, probably 150g, there would be no removable battery and possibly no microSD slot. These two reasons alone are huge selling points for a lot of people. No removable or replaceable...

    51-70k AMD Gaming PC

For gaming currently Core i5 3570K is the better CPU. That said, FX-8350 is doing rather well in forward looking games like Crysis 3 and once next-gen games come streaming in I won't be surprised if FX-8350 at least matches if not outperforms the i5. Also, for many non-gaming multi-threaded...

Windows 9 Is Coming: No Start Button, Launch Date in November 2014

To take that a step further, in Windows 8 you can deep pin to the Start screen. If you use Power Management often, you can just pin that. You can pin not only apps but functions, people, places, objects, settings etc, virtually anything from within apps. And of course, for the deep pins from...

Windows 9 Is Coming: No Start Button, Launch Date in November 2014

If it were only for low power mobile devices Desktop wouldn't exist. But that's not how it is. If you just look at the Desktop it is a major improvement over Windows 7. Definitely a bigger leap forward over 7 than 7 was over Vista. On top of that you have an awesome new environment which will...

    71-90K need comp for studio

For what its worth, I find Cakewalk Sonar on Windows an infinitely better and more productive experience than Logic Pro on OS X. Performance is ridiculously good in Windows 8 with practically zero latency and perfect stability. As for video work, it's simply no competition, the Mac platform is...

    51-70k Ultrabook with 3rd Gen i7 processor

It's just one of those things, once you use touch, you expect and want it everywhere. Till now there wasn't a fully featured OS that was designed for touch. Now that there is, there is no going back. On my desktop I keep touching the monitor instinctively and coming out frustrated when it...

WP Nokia Lumia 920 - Discussion thread

Congrats! About the cons, you have a hardware camera shutter button, hold it down and it opens the camera app directly and takes a shot, even if the screen is locked. The end result is it is faster to take a shot from a locked state than any other phone. You can silence it completely, just...

    Crysis 3 - Discussion Thread

When Crysis released, people moaned that their rigs couldn't handle it. When Crysis 2 released, people complained that it wasn't enough to max out their rigs. Since Crytek can't win either way, might as well set the bar again, like they did with Crysis. That game's engine was at least 3 years...

    51-70k Ultrabook with 3rd Gen i7 processor

I saw it in Ezone for Rs. 75k yesterday. The same thing costs about $1000 in the US. The machine is pretty awesome though.

HTC One Official Photo Breaks Cover

Not everyone wants massive screens. The most popular (and by far most profitable) smartphone in the world as of Q4 2012 only has a 4 inch screen.

WP Nokia Lumia 920 - Discussion thread

On a somewhat related note, I am very impressed by Lumia 820. From a little hands-on impressions, the camera is as good as my 8X, performance is flawless and identical to 920/8X, and the AMOLED screen is gorgeous and this one has a polarizer which deflects sunlight. Yes, if you look closely...

WP Nokia Lumia 920 - Discussion thread

That is pretty weird! Doesn't seem like an obvious way to delete the pdfs. By the way, Adobe recently released Reader for Windows 8/RT, which is surprisingly good compared to their Desktop readers. Hopefully Reader will be back on Windows Phone. In any case I expect Microsoft to update the PDF...

WP Nokia Lumia 920 - Discussion thread

I've just used Microsoft's PDF Reader. It's very basic but so far I haven't needed anything else. Apparently, there used to be an Adobe Reader but Microsoft rushed this one when Adobe failed to release a WP8 version on time. So this is version 1.0 rush job and will get better with time surely...

WP Nokia Lumia 920 - Discussion thread

Snapdragon S4's hardware decode is pretty good, we saw that in Android devices too. There are a few timer apps in the Store. The one I use is "StopWatch", does what you would expect a stopwatch/countdown app too. But, yes, there is definitely a few minor things missing in Windows Phone.
