Well I have Vista 64 bit installed currently and not having used Vista 32 bit before I cannot really compare both. But yes, compared to XP 32 bit, the vista x64 version is far superior. Have installed a few 'core' x64 products and they seem to be better at performance than their 32 bit counter...

bah! I replaced my 320 (.10) and 500gb (.11) drives in the hopes of getting a larger capacity drives but sadly i got the same capacity both times. but yes, got faster drives. both 1 platter .12 :).

^^ No its not native x64. Atleast I could not find one yet. Though the 32 bit works fine on the 64 bit OS.

You could try using hardware acceleration if you have a GPU and the GPU supports it. Check out Guru3d Forums for a very well explained guide (the link was posted sometime back by someone on TE itself) Though the guide is for HD movies it helps improve quality on DVD Rips as well.

I have used MATT Silver and Pearl White and have got identical scores for both in Nero on my Benq 1640. So i guess you can pick up any?

I wonder why everyone doesn't adopt the same standard and stick to you? Or is it difficult for hardware manufacturers to adopt the binary and for software makes to adopt the decimal version?

it couldn't have been my pen drive. IYRC it was in an unformated state and I had to format it when i connected the pen drive to your pc. Only then could i begin copying files from your comp.

Update: Windows seems to be stable now. I guess and as udit pointed out, the CPU wasnt completely compatible with the older bios causing the crash.

I am in for the CDR if anyone else backs out. I also have a pack of 3 unused DL Verbatim DVDs (still packed in the plastic wrapping). they are of no use to me now. So we can trade. lemme know.

^^ thanks for the link and the advice :).. XP hasn't crashed yet. been quite a few hours now! transferred files, watched a movie, multi-tasked, pretty much the normal stuff and no crash. will revert incase it crashes :D
