I think its problem of DVI connector, make sure it is NOT a DVI-D to VGA (here D stands for Digital and VGA need analog signal so this will give you Power Saving screen i.e no signal ). Check this website ( All About DVI ) to make make sure which type of DVI port is present on you DVI to VGA...
