Yup, warranty is the ONLY reason I was waiting for the official release. I simply don't trust ebay dealers enough to get high end phones from them. Also, the Desire seemed perfect for me, but for its screen quality. Coming from an iPhone, I can put up with anything but mediocre screen quality...

Went around yesterday here in Chennai asking the price of the Galaxy S. It is 28k in Poorvika and 28.8 in the mobile store. Visited a Samsung show room and they didn't have it in stock. Neither did Wavetel. Looks like I'll wait a couple of weeks for the price to settle around 27.5k

Some people just try TOO hard to recreate a problem. If holding the phone naturally causes a drop in signal, its justified. But trying to hold it in a particular way just to demonstrate that there might be an issue - not so smart.

Yes, it will be cracked. But disallowing custom ROMs defeats the purpose of being an "open" platform. If Motorola does this, the new droids = iPhone. Most people who switch to Android do it for the customization/flexibility it allows. Just hope other manufacturers don't follow this.

The total amount of RAM is indeed 512MB. But the radio allocates some RAM for itself on boot. This means only the remaining memory will be available for the OS. That is why you see 326MB as the amount of usable RAM. This is perfectly normal as most Android phones do the same. And the CPU...

@Lord Nemesis, how is the loudspeaker volume? The gsmarena review indicates that it is very feeble (almost as bad as the iPhone). Did you happen to listen to some music/ringtone when you checked it?
