I don't know, tbh. Even I've seen that 42% figure bandied about. I had no issues paying that fee either. I've also confirmed from others that should the assessable value be under Rs 5k, customs duty is not levied.

Custom duty on an item costing Rs 10,087 (product cost+shipping cost) came to Rs 4,274. Break-up of Rs 4,274 = BCD @10% (Rs 1,009) + Social Welfare Surcharge (Rs 101) + IGST @28% (Rs 3,135) + Postal Fee (Rs 30) Funny thing was the postman calling me up and asking 'if' I'd be willing to pay...

I contacted Pearl about this blade alignment issue. Amazon, from where I originally bought the razor, refused to replace/refund the item as the return window was over. But contacted Pearl anyway as I saw on their site that they offered a 30-day return period, should you buy off of their site...

So, this arrived and after 3 head shaves with it, I'm beginning to like it. 2 of those shaves were with the closed comb attachment while 1 was with the open comb one. Honestly, I didn't like the open comb at all (used on a 2-day stubble). Found it messier and the resulting shave wasn't as close...

Managed to find a seller on Alibaba who agreed to ship directly via a private courier - named 4PX something - with a tracking number. Seller said the courier will handle customs and will contact me for payment. Let's see how this pans out.

Sorry, missed this part. Can't shave the beard cos I sport a full-length one with a bald head. So, practising a straight-edge razor on the face first is ruled out. I'm interested in learning to shave my head with a straight edge, but don't have the time for it currently. Based on your and...

First up, not quite Walter White :) Don't know what this look is called but quite common these days among younger balding men. No half measures. And as amazed as I'm that you manage to shave so fast, I don't think I can pull that off. I also concur with @alekhkhanna about the manning up part...

So my first order with Aramex SnS came a cropper because of this regulation the company follows. Those who want to try the company, please beware of this. Was trying to buy such an item via Alibaba but the Aramex warehouse folks refused to accept 'live' products, even if the seller bundled in...

I shave immediately after showering, as the process takes 15 mins easily for two passes over the entire head with the safety razor. Might just give this a shot again with the multi-blade ones. Thanks! The 7 O'Clock Platinums I use last me 4-5 shaves of the head minimum. I just make sure to...

Damn! And yes, wouldn't mind paying a reasonable amount as customs. Anything over 50%, I'll be disappointed.

Oh okay; my package would be in the region of 15K landed (so, SnS shipping cost included) in India.

I signed up for SnS after reading your OG post about it on the prev page. Contacted the seller on Alibaba with the forwarding address for a quote on the order. Let's see how this goes. Anything I should watch out for? The product value should be ~USD125 (shipping extra to local SnS address)...

I guess you're referring to those multi-blade razors that Gillette specialise in? Yes, they're very fast and safe to work with, I have one of those with me. I mightn't be objective in this assessment but the end result is just not as smooth as with a safety razor.

Ah, thanks for sharing. I've always looked at Bombay SC as some sort of hipster new-age brand that is more show than go. Will defo check them out. Thanks for this. Shaving is once a week. I'd like to do it at least twice a week, though laziness gets the better of me. Since you're talking about...

I have no experience of using a straight razor, hence the question and the associated apprehension. I gather from your answer that it's not advisable and not something that many would use to shave their face, let alone their head. Fair enough, will read up more on this though will love to hear...

Any head shavers here? Recently started shaving at home (before the lockdown as barber visits were getting prohibitive from both time and money perspective) using a classic safety razor. Had bought a Gillette Fusion Glide on the reco of another head-shaving friend who thought it'd be a better...
