    I remember one incident when farnell.in converted to in.element14.com . That time they weren't take orders from individuals....... So they come up with kits spares .......... I ordered 12k worth of components and development kit. It took 2 weeks to confirm the purchase and endless follow ups...

    I believe software must be identifying the serial no embedded into the dongle ........ FTDI has a tool to reprogram their USB chip FT xxx for this purpose. I am not sure about chip used in your dongle .......... Any idea how does it shows up in hardware list ...... Vid n pid of device.....
