Better stick with XP mate...and install some conversion Packs or If u really want vista then get HOME EDITION which will do for u also upgrade ram to 2gb

overburn result depends on drive n dvd .personally i wont recommend OB as for few reason: 1.OB dvds wont last long as the data burns on edge (lead out area) 2.If u want to use it for dvd players some wont support the OB dics if i am not wrong In ur case as u allready lost 2 dvds its not worth...
