It would be even better if we have the logs from a fresh install and an old install as well. That way, it would be easy to compare and check where the old install failed.

Oracle Virtual box is also free and the developer preview works like a charm on it. For converting a physical machine to a VHD, you can also try Sysinternals disk2vhd again free.

Or better yet, use that software on a VM using VMware workstation. Make a snapshot of the VM before installing that s/w and when the trial is over restore to that snapshot in seconds and you are ready for the next install.

Still Samsung Focus is a much better phone selling even cheaper. Bigger display, Super AMOLED, extendable memory but then again Nokia fan boys cannot be convinced.
