Well that's quite unfortunate, it's a little worrisome though if it was because of some defect , though Ampere series is known for high transient spike where it could spike upto 2-3 times it's rated TDP for few moments but still 750 watts is plenty should not have happened. Especially worried...

    FS: Processor Ryzen 5 3600

Well entry level alder lake is also quite cheap a h610 board is pretty cheap starts around 6-7k also it only supports DDR4 that's good enough , yeah no over clocking support though. Recently have built a couple of budget builds and transistor for transistor I found intel to be cheaper...

Damn hope it didn't damage anything else that sounds quite serious , never had a PSU personally fail on me though but had a friend whose antec unit fried his motherboard and ram stick with it , and released black tar inside the case it was nasty. Curious what could be the reason for failure...

    FS: Processor Ryzen 5 3600

I'm curious as to why didn't you go for the alder lake something like 12100 it stomps the 3600 in single and thread and equals in multi threaded performance as well within the same power limit. It would have costed you 10k that's literally 5k less than what you paid for this chip

    FS: Laptop MacBook Pro 16 - 2019, Intel I9 5.0 Ghz, 64GB DDR4, 2TB SSD, 5500M 8gb, 197 battery cycle count

m1 pro is awesome , the intel i9 literally throttled really hard , to be honest 2 TB is just overkill with everything being on cloud and you can always get cheap external SSD , but i guess when you're CTO you really don't care about the money.
