I see people buying used gpus all the time but what about other components? I heard cpus outlast everything else so they are good to buy used....no idea about motherboard, ram and power supply.

Why not try apple's type c to 3.5mm? Its the best under 1000. There are some compatibility issues with some samsung phones so check properly before you buy.
