If you say your Lappy connects your router .. I assume your PC also connects to router (LAN) then you are there. If your PC is not connected to router then you may get ready for a technical session .. which TE experts are gonna post here :) Give us more information about your current network...

Normal means .. affordable by high end people .. in todays market there are many people still looks for pentium 4 .. these are not for them. ( at this moment at least).

Go ahead with LCD .. as these days refresh rates are very good. .. CRT's are good if you are into serious photo editing biz .. in that case you can get NEC Ezio series anyway. Think of future .. LCD .. save power too :)
