I think in windows 98SE you have to install netbui protocol for workgroup.

For me , computer selection is da best . The guys ther are so nice and they give much better rates also. Another shop i had seen was Shree computers

I am not much experienced in networking , but still u tried to ping other system ?? You mentioned that laptop system crashes when you go to workgroup setting , its quite possible that some thing is wrong with network drivers , try reinstall them.

See if you make a vcd of DAT file generally it can contain around 750 or 800 MB of data , you can convert to lower quality by this util Download

The 1st one belongs to style Xp and 2nd one belongs to FlashGet , dont think its any cause of prob.
