I'm inclining to agree... I was hyped for this and I thought come 11th Aug, invites would roll out in batches of thousands or ten thousands. If there are similar spec'd phones in the same price range that come up before I get an invite, I'm just gonna go with those.

I'd say so. I was always using the Google DNS, right from the beginning. (Not sure if DNS would really play a part in something like this?) I'm not on MTNL any more though... I switched to Hathway after I shifted.

MTNL broadband also injects stuff into web pages... pretty arrogantly in fact. They usually show a popup ad about some MTNL offer. It's pretty annoying and often also steals focus from the main web page, so you really have to move your hand to the mouse and then close the popup.
