Played around with my 520 for past 2 days. Pretty much impressed with the phone, and coming from Froyo WP8 looks fresh. But I am stumped why normal mp3 cannot be set as ringtones. I did tried Rinngtone makes from Nokia, but somehow it does not work with all files, not even on those downloaded...

Finally got my 520 delivered from nokia.indiatimes.com. :) Took more time than expected, but overall I am happy with 9K-ish deal. Evening time will be the time to explore Windows 8 mobile.

+1 to Lumia 520. It is better to spend some extra money to get better handset. In slightly lower range, I would suggest Huawei Y300. Not used that one personally, but a friend has one and is more or less satisfied with it. Would not suggest Micromax, Karbonn and other Chinese-rebranded stuff as...

Based on my experience Timex is pretty good, at least for digital ones. I had bought a Triathlon series some 11 years ago from USA, and it still works fine. The only maintenance required was the battery replacement. The analog ones though, conked off after 4 years. Don't have recent experience...

As per the numerous reviews, it is one of the best sub-10K phone. AFAIK, the cheapest deal was on HS18 Superdeals a few days ago. It may be live again in a few days.

^ I had read that Lumia 720 and above has hardware support for FM, but that feature is not currently available in WP8. But Lumia 520 and 620 are out of luck.

This model may have been discontinued. You can check out Manual for Executive Plus. Most likely this was a newer model with facility for Temperature control. Rest of the front panel layout seems similar.

Will your kids need to carry laptop with them, or just need to access it from home? If usage is going to be from home, better to stick to desktop you already have, rather than spending so much. Don't think 2-3 years in advance and buy laptop now - you will get better spec-ed laptops if you delay...
