Consider getting used HTiB from Yamaha or Denon, think Amazon has Yamaha 1810 model available once in while at good prices. Soundbars aren`t good for surround effects that a dedicated HTiB can create.

I remember this issue I faced in 2014 with my new LCD and sony HT. Think you have to change some setting on your Sony HT to accept the audio in... I had used tv aux to rca in on Sony HT. Just check....
