Affordable mid tower with at least 4 3.5" hard drive bays

I bought the Cooler Master Force 500 earlier this year to make a NAS/home server. Can easily fit 6-7 3.5 inch HDDs, and also has room for PCIe cards in case you want to add AICs for multi gig networking or HBAs. Okay-ish quality but does the job for Rs. 3600. If you plan to go for enterprise...

Hey everyone! First FS post on TE, so I hope I got it right. Selling my gaming computer with a BenQ 27 inch monitor and an 25 inch LG ultragear gaming monitor. This computer was built by me and my brother in 2020. Unfortunately, he moved abroad for studies, and life got in the way for me...

Any guidance on pricing for the HBA cards in India? The markets seems very unorganised and pricing is all over the place.

Budget 71-90K Anyone who's into building NAS server?

It was brought in from across the globe, yes. I'll be getting my hands on it this evening, so I guess I'll know then. It does run hot, but I think they're built to work fine even when a bit toasty.  I also got a PM983 DCT which I forgot to add above. No idea how hot it'll run; need to try it...

Budget 71-90K Anyone who's into building NAS server?

I'm going to try to build one tomorrow. Though unraid seems interesting and user friendly, I'll be starting out with mergerfs and snapraid in vanilla Debian. Have got a 3.2TB enterprise SSD, so I want to try tiered caching too. A lot of people swear by unraid. But I wanted to try configuration...

Budget 21-30k Need Help Building A Pc With 30k.

This is good advice. Else, you'd need to probably stretch your budget a bit, and use integrated graphics on a relatively newer CPU with fast RAM, until you can afford to add dedicated graphics. To be honest, putting more money into a 3rd generation platform is a dead end, since games are just...

How to obtain a Raspberry Pi at a non-scalper price?

This post is so cool! I think I'm gonna try it at my parents' place, where deploying a small computer that'll run 24x7 raises eyebrows. Old Android phones are a very good Pi replacements, I ran a Telegram bot off of my decade old Redmi phone, and it was able to service 4000+ users a day.

Budget 71-90K What to buy used?

To quote myself: Rest of the conditions being favorable. HDDs have moving parts, mechanical failure happens earlier than wear out is what I mean. TBW for SSDs is a key metric that is documented clearly in the specifications. Please share the screenshot, also please check the TBW spec for...

Budget 71-90K What to buy used?

Reliable, yes. But HDDs can have almost unlimited write endurance as long as the rest of the conditions are favourable. SSDs just have a finite lifespan.

Budget 71-90K What to buy used?

From my limited experience, CPUs and RAM for outlast the rest of the components, and are great candidates to be bought used. PSUs are ok to buy used if the brand is reliable, and the buyer knows that the component wasn't misused/heavily abused. The problem with SSDs is that they have a limited...

Buying from US - Best Deals - Discussion Thread

It is mostly obscure stuff, that you don't find in India that makes most sense to get from the US. Enterprise hardware, etc. Also, they have a huge used goods market, so one can get great deals at times.
