Something actually worked, from a couple of days I was a using this downmarket VGA cable (as my original cable had gone Kaput)....I borrowed a friend's original samsung cable and surprisingly the monitor got DETECTED....thanks for the help guys !!! THOUGH I'D STILL LIKE TO KNOW WHY THE...

its intel onboard .... sadly, (or should i say fortunately) no dedicated GPU

I recently upgraded to Ubuntu Lucid Lynx:D:D but unable to detect monitor. I tried editing xorg.conf and even added some extra resolutions...but somehow i dont get the option for 1600x900 even though i had added that resolution in the new xorg.conf:@:@ Plz help...
