I recently upgraded to Ubuntu Lucid Lynx:D:D but unable to detect monitor.
I tried editing xorg.conf and even added some extra resolutions...but somehow i dont get the option for 1600x900 even though i had added that resolution in the new xorg.conf:mad::mad:

Plz help folks.........:eek:hyeah::eek:hyeah::eek:hyeah:

Code:
sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg

Also try installing ATI drivers.

You upgraded or did a new install ? If the former then please do recompile the drivers for new kernel.

i believe even some older intel chipsets also had problems with the X open source drivers, so also do search for your model number online for any issues/solutions....

(luckily my brand new acer laptop with core i3 cpu/gpu combo works great at native 1366x768 resolution with the default open source intel driver)

Something actually worked, from a couple of days I was a using this downmarket VGA cable (as my original cable had gone Kaput)....I borrowed a friend's original samsung cable and surprisingly the monitor got DETECTED....thanks for the help guys !!!

THOUGH I'D STILL LIKE TO KNOW WHY THE RESOLUTION OPTION 1600X900 WAS NOT BEING DISPLAYED EVEN AFTER I TYPED IT MANUALLY IN XORG.CONF ???
