Anyone into RTL-SDR as a hobby? Need help with dongle purchase

Radio communications is an expensive hobby unless you take the DIY route, even that is not exactly cheap. I bought several RTL-SDR for different purposes and my experience with them has not been very good. RTL-SDR cannot receive below 25 Mhz without an up-converter. When you add the cost of an...

Anyone into RTL-SDR as a hobby? Need help with dongle purchase

I had an ADSB setup but it is not active now. Fab-to-Lab may have better prices for RTL-SDR dongles. For listening to communications it is better to go for a RSP1a or similar SDRs. These will be bit expensive compared to RTL-SDR dongles. Matching antenna is important for good reception with RTL-SDR.

A cheap wifi / bluetooth music streamer cum DAC

You can consider the iFi Zen Blue V2 streamer/dac in that budget (no personal experience) I use a Wiim Pro (streamer only) with Topping E50 (DAC). The Zen Blue V2 built-in DAC should ok, but if that doesn't cut it, you can always buy a better DAC later and hook up to the coaxial out

Opnsense is not supported on Rpi4 yet. I moved to Opnsense on x86

    OpenWrt on RPi4 ?

My WAN connections were less than 100 Mbps each. A friend who tested Rpi4 had 300 Mbps connection said the CPU utilisation was less than 30% during speed tests. I experienced latency with the USB 3.0 adapters I had, so moved to Opnsense after a short time with that setup

    OpenWrt on RPi4 ?

The Rpi4 performance is very good with Openwrt. The USB to Ethernet adapter will work but is a compromise. If you dont need gigabit speeds, use VLANs on the native ethernet

Proxmox Thread - Home Lab / Virtualization

Started moving the services running in Raspberry Pi's to Proxmox. I have only few VMs and in the Summary page of VM the Memory Usage graph shows high memory utilization. But when we check the OS (Linux) is actually using very little memory. Any idea why is it showing like this ?
