It seems simple enough - but when I open the Sony DCIM folder , I am only able to see the JPG image files .However , I am able to access the video files on the camera itself.

I have a Sony P & S cam which shoots videos in the AVCHD format.I'm unable to see these files when I connect my cam to the Macbook pro in the USB mode.Is there a program which enables Mac OS X Lion to see these files ? I generally use VLC to play video files but I am unable to point the media...

Quite true - even on a Windows machine - my XP laptop has never been infected ( touchwood :) ) in it's 5 year life.
