    Linux Want to learn about linux.

    Since you have the urge to learn, it should not be much of a problem, that is what one needs to learn linux. No matter how compelled you are to learn linux, unless and until you have the actual desire to learn, things won't go the right way. If you are using Ubuntu now, I strongly recommend...

    Networking woes

    @everyone, I can't go about your settings because, for wifi range, the wireless router has been placed right in the middle of the house. The ISP router has only one LAN port. The wireless router has four LAN ports, but which are not of use. It is solely being used for wifi purposes. And I...

    book on c++

    IMHO, STL is the C++ programmer's sugar. Some nice things exist in it which would take ages to create a bug free implementation of the same.

    book on c++

    Yes I seriously agree with this. Kanetkar books really suck! It teaches you all non-ANSI stuff.

    book on c++

    Read E Balagurusamy to get up with the basics, then write small programs using STL, etc. in C++. Reference for every thing (ANSI C++) available at cplusplus.com That's how I learnt and am still learning.

    Probably somewhere you're note expecting me to be: Bhosari (mods who don't live in Pune, note that this is a locality name and in anyway not related to the bad word in hindi).

    Linux Machine (budget 30K)

    I don't have the perfect knowledge about this wireless thing, but as far as I know, the usb transducer, which converts RF signals from your wireless keyboard, must be simulating an AT keyboard connected with wire. So it should not be a big problem...

    Linux Want to be a UNIX expert. Please guide

    I have no ill-will against Debian, but let me tell you that, after using Arch Linux, Fedora, and Gentoo... even FreeBSD! what I feel is Debian configuration is the most weirdest!

    Linux how much swap space do you have?

    Depends on the use pattern.. If you want hibernation, then you should allocate >= size of your ram. I have 3 GB on 64 bit and a 500 MB swap. It hardly touches even 100 MB. KDE46-Gentoo.

    How to know web developement and Internet Programming

    Why would they be better? Any specific reason? Or just because they work better in Windows? I think PHP is the programming language for the web, if you want to save money! PHP comes in the LAMP stack, and LAMP servers are damn cheap, especially shared hosts.

    Which Programming language is like PHP?

    I know python as well as php. First of all, get it clear that php can run without a web server. php is mostly used in web applications. What I think is, for your application, you should consider python, because it has excellent math capabilities in the standard library itself, and it is easy to...

    embedded or scripting

    It purely depends on your interests, if you are interested in programming phones, you should go for embedded. PHP is used in web developing the most, so unless you want to be a web developer, there's no practicality in learning it. Perl, it is used by unix/linux administrators, but it is a...

    Programming - But on Mac ? Need some advice

    I'm forced to post here after reading this in spite of knowing not much about Macintosh. They do teach Turbo and Borland C/C++ in schools, colleges (yes! we had in last semester #facepalm!) and even in those private C/C++ courses. Does Google exist? If it does, what have you been doing online...

    Linux Want to be a UNIX expert. Please guide

    Well, its quite simple. All you need to do is install Linux on your system along with windows. You should make sure that whatever comes you'll use linux (unless there's a kernel panic ;)), because it is a general human tendency to do whatever is easier than to learn new things. A lot of people...
