Anyone from Kashmir or Assam, need help in sourcing Chili Seeds.

If you're used to Bhut Jalokai you grow immune to it's spiciness over time. My wife's from Nagaland, and we used to have it with practically all our food for years (as a chutney/salsa). Then, one day we ran out of the chili - during covid, I think, and our taste buds reset. 6 -12 months later...

    Mechanical Ventilation System for home

Check this out if you're living in a city - https://airth.in/products/fresh-air-unit. Cross ventilation depends on which direction the wind blows, how many obstacles you have in front of your house, and how your windows and doors are placed. I've got a VRF system (HVAC) installed in my...

    Rusting inside microwave cavity

Same thing happened to my microwave after about 5 years. We then used a microwave lid - https://www.ikea.com/in/en/p/prickig-microwave-lid-grey-50186091/ - to prevent any debris from falling onto food. We used it for 2-3 more years without any issue - don't know about the long term health...

The book I am reading currently

I loved the Mistborn series. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. I just finished "The Remains of the Day" by Kazuo Ishiguro. It's really good. I picked it up because I'd just read "Klara and the Sun", also by Ishiguro. That is the best book I've read in a long time. A haunting, sad, sci-fi...

First Marathon Next Year: Where Do I Begin?

Not for running a particular, but for any form of exercise - 1) Enjoy yourself. For me that means doing workouts that are right for my body type and my personality. In the gym, I don't like doing slow controlled sets of 8-15 reps. It doesn't work for me physically, or mentally. I've begun...

    PC Peripherals UPS suggestion

Why not just get a second 650va UPS, and distribute the load evenly between the two. It'll save you a bit of cash, and you can use what you already have.

Home air purifiers effective for improving indoor air quality?

It won't render it ineffective. You'll just have to change the filters more often. Anyway, something is better than nothing.

Home air purifiers effective for improving indoor air quality?

The air quality in Pune has deteriorated ever since the rains stopped, which is evident by the dust levels inside our house. We could get by with dusting once or twice a week in the monsoons, but now, if we leave our windows open for a couple of hours, we can see a light coating of dust on all...

51-70k Moving to desktop after ages - need help building PC

Does your budget include the monitor? You should go the AMD route, as that'll allow you to game at low settings till you get the GPU. I don't think you'll be able to get an AM5 (DDR5) rig for 30k, so you'll have to get a very minimally upgradeable AM4 setup. (which is what I did a couple of...

Other DIY mobile phone screen replacement.

I've been using the phone for the past few hours, and everything works great. The display is not as good as the original screen. The colours are a bit cooler, and the viewing angles aren't as good. Text rendering is also not as good as on the stock screen. I need to set the brightness about 20%...

Other DIY mobile phone screen replacement.

Update us on your progress once you get down to doing the repairs. We should all extend the life of our devices by a few years and cut down on electronic waste. I did think of doing that, I also considered putting the phone on my 3D printers bed and heating it up in a more controlled way, but I...

Other DIY mobile phone screen replacement.

The display came from Maxbhi.com this morning. It was really well packed. The main box had two smaller boxes inside, both bubble wrapped. Inside one, in more bubble wrapping was the display, and in the other, with Styrofoam strips to prevent the tube from getting smashed was the glue tube. I...

Linux Karaoke with YouTube on desktop.

That worked! Thanks a ton!! I had to tinker around with the latencies and volume levels to get it to play nice, but it works. Now I need to find a good mic. That looks interesting, but I'm running Linux, so it won't work for me. Thanks for the suggestion.

Linux Karaoke with YouTube on desktop.

I am able to play back my voice while a YouTube video plays. The problem is that it's not a seamless experience. I used Audacity to record both streams, but that's not something I can do if I have guests over. I've tried karaoke software, but they need special music files, which are expensive...
