All true and great for tinkering/learning about computers. T490 only has one full size NVMe so there's that issue as well. I bought mine from Amazon and it's been working fine, paid 24k for reference (16/512/1080p).

I recommend getting a T490 or T480S, very similar but is slimmer with thinner bezels. Frankly, much nicer for someone young. Good luck! Edit: or better yet a T14 Gen1 AMD, 1080p if possible.

Absolutely, 8GB is pretty atrocious, especially since both variants of the 3070 were nerfed because of it. 3080 with 12GB is also equally bad but I am still considering it. I already have a 6700XT but not impressed by AMD's stack for AI/ML workloads.
