I have been debating this for several weeks now. Someone who has more experience please advice me on this one. I have just about 600+ hours in PUBG and close to 2000 hours in Tarkov. I’m currently looking to buy a second monitor to game exclusively and can’t decide which one within a budget of upto 45K. My current monitor is the LG GL850 144hz 1440p monitor. Thanks in advance.
For competitive gaming would prefer 1080p.
What GPU do u run?
And also most of the Nvidia(RTX) cards don’t perform well in 1080p. But will perform better at 1440p.
After using a 1440p display getting down to 1080p is going to be a pain. If you are looking to upgrade from LG GL850 144hz 1440p monitor, then I think you should look towards those fast oled monitor with 240hz or higher refresh rate.
Does using OLEDs is taxing on the GPUs ? Like when we run 4k 120hz monitors.
definately stick to 1440p unless youre doing professional esports ,1440p looks waay better than 1080p i would rather take quality than some fps
4k 120hz will need high end GPUs, i.e Ngreedia xx80/90 and equivalent. will require i7 above and equivalent cpu etc. Resolution is taxing on GPU not the panel type. OLED will surely consume more electricity.
1440p is sweet spot for mid tier GPU and PC.
Currently, I have a 60Hz 1080p monitor and am planning an upgrade, but I’m confused about whether to go for a 1080p high-refresh-rate monitor or a 1440p monitor. I don’t play any competitive games and I don’t prefer ray tracing. I have an Asus Dual RX 6600XT, which can handle 1440p in terms of raw performance on most games. And may update my GPU in 1-2 years, so overall, which resolution do you suggest? Is 1440p really worth it?
If i were you, I would prefer to go with 2k i.e. 1440p, 144hz monitor as 27"1440p has more pixel density than 1080p 24", where 24’ 1080p has about 95ppi vs 27’ 1440p has approx 109ppi - resulting in more details (All data for IPS panels).
1440p 32" - has same pixel density as 24’ 1080p 144hz ips @ 95ppi. 2160p @ 4k 32" IPS has approx 139ppi.
In my novice opinion, there is no visible benefit in for going for above 180hz monitor for gaming. Other FMs who have very high refresh rate monitors would be able to shed more light on this.
