For the uninitiated , what is it doing ?
Is it jugad Air purifier ? You are using Mi 3 Air purifier filter and blowing air or using suction to make a makeshift Air purifier ?

The fan is face down so it should be sucking the air via the filter thus making a make shift air purifier. Not bad for the amount invested.

Hmm works as a make shift air purifier, just had to buy the DC adapter, had the rest lying for quite some time and thought why not I add another DIY one. Got to know many other DIY solutions using these MI filters out there in the wild…

I was worried if the static pressure was enough and how it’d work when clogged later, the initial impression after running around 30 min has been great. Both MI sensor and diy laser sensor report lower values.

Got me wondering….if Arctic P12’s or P14’s will generate enough pull to work in such an application.

I have a bunch of those lying around.

I already have many PC cooling fans which are 120MM from Cooler Master and did setup cooling base for equipment using slipper’s service only . Got the DC to AC connector from robu and added the power adapter . But my setup is way under powered for a Air purifier type of usage

Can you share how much lower it went? Or better yet, can you check in a normal closed room. From start to finish and time taken?

If you don’t have a sensor, you can remove filter from Xiaomi one to keep check on air quality without it actually filtering.

Also have you thought of adding activated carbon pellets?

Some people have tried it and its working fine as per them. You can check in the comments of this 3d model → https://makerworld.com/en/models/1615353-air-purifier-2nd-generation-featuring-a-14cm-fan-a?from=search#profileId-1704540

Im also considering the same Arctic P14 pro 140mm fan. Its silent and very low power usage. If the area doesnt have very active wind i think it should be fine especially with large filters like xiaomi’s.
