OK My 8800GT is going for RMA and I eed something asap.
Please tell me which one is a better option for now.
A. 4870+HX620 rest all for my current rig. (Damage about 25K)
B. 4850+VX450 + P5Q + E8400 (Damage about 25K as I get 5K for my current mobo+CPU)
I don’t think intels new nehalm(spelling) will be that great in gaming at all, but I still like the E8600 which isn’t available readily and my budget right now is only this much…
Please tell me which one is a better deal A or B to last me till Feb 2009. Remember a lot of games are coming out.
Also can the VX450 take my current rig and a 4870?
Thanks lot guys this is really confusing…
PS. If somo of you commmented on my last post for an upgrade I am posting again as not I dont have the 8800GT as it is going for RMA and I need something by this tomorrow.
Cheers,
Why dont you invest in a 4850 crossfire setup? Spend about 2k more for P5Q-Pro or E and pick up a HX620 to power it up, that would be a decent option too
I love eye candy but off late I have noticed my my FPS would drop in even TF2 when a lot of explosions were happening..I could see that ONE of my cores is always at max…
Why are you guys recommending the E7200? Is it much more VFM? or nearly as good as E8400/E8200? I somehow dont really overclock anything as my rig is on 24/7 so then wont the E8200/E8400 be better…?
Okie, I asked coz if you get a CF mobo and get one 4850, it should do almost all games pretty well, and down the line say 10months later add another one for CF and it will give you another 1 year with enough fire power for games coming up during the time, and yes, these cards do need a lot of cpu power to have less cpu bottlenecking and higher clocked cpu will always help.
Maybe you can get a budget cpu now and get a faster one when price falls after nehlam launch.
EDIT: so if your not interested in dual gpu’s and will upgrade in a year or so anyway, even then 4850 would be a good option or 4870/260 for slightly longer duration! But with a complete overhaul you will need a better psu.
I was about to suggest that, but that said, since your here and overclocking will always remain a temptation , why not get the gear needed, and incase you ever decide to go the other way, you could!
..I thought about the IP35-E, but dropped the idea since Abit is not going to manufacture more mobo’s.. and I somehow do like ASUS that’s why I was tilting towards a P5Q.
…still undecided. Please debate some more…
..if I do get the option A.
I will be upgrading the CPU sometime in Feb or so.
Or lets say I need this rig I make to last me till Feb 2009 thats when I can think of a next upgrade…
..if I take option B.
I think I will only need to get a GPU then in Feb. if needed…
HD4850 crossfire is pointless atleast from what i saw from the graphics card review by tomshardware…it just gives 4-5 fps more in crossfire setup compared to a single HD4850
