afaik, HD4850 should be around an average of 40% better performer than 88GTS..:slight_smile:

which GTS are you referreing to?

old 320/640 MB GTS or the later 512 MB GTS?

if the 512MB GTS, then there should only be small difference, with 4850 leading.

the 512Mb GTS was later renamed to 9800GTX. Then made minor improvements and used 55nm and further renamed as 9800GTX+.

the 9800GTX+ was then put in a new, small and improved PCB and was aagain renamed to GTS250.

GTS 250 is slightly better than a 4850.

i might say

8800GTS 320 < GTS 640 < GTS 512 =9800GTX < 4850 < 9800GTX+ = GTS 250.

The new 8800GTS (512 one) is pretty much the same as the 9800GTX and at par with a 4850. There will be a fair share of games of both where they win but overall the 4850 is a 5-10% better buy.

I found it amusing that you would ask a question and then politely ask for justification, but then get ticked off when someone politely points you to a (much better) source(s).

I back what i said, google it, with a bit more determination this time, there’s a wealth of info. out there, MUCH better than reading snippets from those same sources here and bothering with which flavour of the card the other person is on about.

Acc to all benchmarks 8800GTS and 4850 are pretty much equally good. Any difference less than 10% can almost be neglected and any difference below 5% must not even be considered.

4850 anytime and in any game wins against 8800gts any model.
