A320 to B450 Motherboard "upgrade"

Hey guys, out of boredom, I wanted to try flashing two of my A320 motherboards to a beefier BIOS and see what happens. I have Asrock A320M-HDV R4.0 and MSI A320M-A PRO MAX. So, I looked around if these two have any models similar enough to B series motherboards. Turns out they do.

Asrock A320M-HDV looks identical to Asrock AB350M-HDV and Asrock B450M-HDV. So, I tried flashing the B350 BIOS and to my surprise it works absolutely fine. Haven’t tried the B450 version though, am too lazy to redo it. But I bet it will work just fine as well.

Now, the second motherboard, MSI A320M-A PRO MAX doesn’t seem to have a B350 counterpart but looks identical to MSI B450M-A PRO MAX. So, tried it and works fine too. However, USB 2.0 doesn’t work. I bought this motherboard with faulty USB in the first place, repaired it 2-3 months ago, left it unused since then. Not sure if the issue came back or if it’s because of the B450 BIOS. Too lazy to downgrade and test lol.

These two motherboards, even with their A320 BIOS had unlocked multiplier for some reason. But, I have little knowledge or experience with overclocking so I haven’t properly tried it. Anyways, posting incase anyone finds it useful. Peace!

PS : This process requires external BIOS programmer like CH341A.
